Christian James - 1 Month Old!

You have already reached ONE MONTH of life!
It seems like just yesterday we were meeting you for the first time. The past month has been a dream come true and more than we could have ever hoped for or imagined. I wish we could live it all again!

You are growing so fast that mommy has to remind herself every day to cherish the little moments with you because they will be gone before we know it! Daddy tells me almost every day that it won't be long and we will be at your wedding and you will be having babies!

Let's take it slow, okay? :)

In the past week you have gained another 12 ounces!!! That's a total of 2 pounds in the past month!

You now weigh 10 pounds and are 21.5 inches long

Look at how you've grown over the past month!!

Your eyes are becoming more and more blue and lightening up!
And mommy thinks your hair is darkening into more of a red!

You still are fitting into your newborn clothes but it won't be for much longer!
0-3 month sizes are fitting much better!
But mommy is too sad to put away your newborn clothes yet...

You have also started smiling and smirking a bit! But it is very hard to fully catch on camera.

Mommy thought that your newborn diapers were getting too small and that it was time for size 1, but when we tried starting size 1 they were HUGE! So...you are still in newborn size diapers :)

Baxter continues to be your best bud! Sometimes I think he may be a little jealous of all the cuddles you get, but mommy makes sure to cuddle him too! We can already tell that he is so excited for when you will be able to play with him!

In the past week you have started napping more...and in your CRIB

You haven't slept through the night again yet. You are still sleeping about 4-6 hours straight each night (you slept a full 8 hours last night!!!) and go to bed around 8 or 9 pm.  Most nights you also fall asleep on your own! Mommy feeds you and rocks you for a bit then lays you down awake in your crib and you fall asleep a few minutes later. Such a good boy!

You love to move! Whenever you are awake we try to play on the floor so you can kick those legs and swing those arms!

We visited daddy at work this week and stayed for lunch so you got a full tour!

You also have started sleeping in your own room in your crib! Mommy was very nervous the first night, so daddy suggested we all sleep in your room...and we did :) Now you are a big boy (and mommy is brave) and you sleep in your room all by yourself!

Last week you had to go to the doctor because you had some blister type bumps on your finger. This week the bumps still weren't gone and weren't looking any better so back to the doctor we went! You got another prescription for amoxicillin (an oral antibiotic) and you aren't the biggest fan of taking it...But you were so brave at the doctor as Dr. B scraped off your bumps! Mommy almost cried with you as you cried :(

Pictures from the past week:

Trying out our Chicco Baby Carrier. You are fitting in there much better now that you are getting bigger. After carrying you around for a bit, you fall right to sleep.

Your "boo boo".... :(

You love sleeping in mommy's arms on the boppy!

The "mitten" (aka bootie) we put on your hand after we put the antibiotic cream on your boo boo on your finger.

On the left...Daddy (on our honeymoon) after we bought a onesie for a future Baby Foote...You!

You are a very noisy sleeper! That's why you sleep in your own room now :) Here you are just kinda snoring...not even half as loud as you can get!

Tummy time with Baxter!

With your active sleeping, you also make some pretty great faces!

Chillin' with mommy!

Cute faces while you sleep :)

Rockin' your cool new shades and sun hat from Grandma Jill! They are both a bit big!

Wearing your cute "Baxter onesie" from Grandma Karen.

There's that smile/smirk that sometimes sneaks out!

You and Baxter both enjoy time with Daddy when he gets home from work each night! Boys time! :)

Here you are in your crib! You spit up on the sheets and mommy didn't have time to put clean ones on before you were ready for another nap. You look so little in there but your swaddle keeps you snug and cozy.

While I wish we could live the past month again, I can't wait to see what the next month will bring!
Love you baby boy!

Monday Madness!

We are officially on WEEK 2 of Stay At Home Mommy Life

Since baby boy isn't even a month old yet (but almost!!! :/), he doesn't exactly have the most consistent or predictable routine... But we are getting into more of a groove!

Feel free to check out my posts over at 'Mommy in the Making'  on how I filled my days "pre-baby" and what life was really like "back then"

Honestly, things haven't changed a TON. Life does revolve around Christian now and what he needs, when he needs it! We really don't have a "schedule", but we do have some what of a "routine".

Life with Christian

Sometime between 6:30am-8am Christian wakes up and is ready for a diaper change and to eat

After a little bit of snuggle time, Christian chills out in his bouncy seat or swing while mommy pumps

By about 8:45am/9am time for a little snack and then Christian hopefully/usually goes down for an hour to an hour and a half nap and mommy gets to have breakfast and shower (and today even blog!)

Awake again and time to eat by about 10:30am and then usually back down for another hour and a half nap or so

Afternoons are usually spent much more awake! Lots of rocking and cuddling with mommy! Sometimes we will read books or play on his play mat. No real "routine" in the afternoons yet....probably mainly because we have often been out and about a lot in the afternoons!

Then daddy is usually home by around 4pm/5pm and we enjoy some family time before mommy starts making dinner.

We sometimes go for an evening family walk and then bath time for baby boy sometime between 8pm/9:30pm and then time to eat before he goes down for the night!

It will be interesting to see how this changes over the next few weeks and we get more of a "schedule"...hopefully :) If not, at least we have a bit of a "routine"

Looking to add some more stroller walks into our day, though! It just can be hard since baby boy doesn't always eat on a consistent schedule or at a consistent time and its not good to be in the middle of a walk when he decides he is hungry! :)

So here is what we have on the agenda this week!

{The Weather}::: Minnesota has been having lots of storms lately! Luckily, Farmington has missed out on the brunt of them and we haven't gotten really any damage. Looks like about a 50% chance of storms again tomorrow and Wednesday but sun the rest of the week! Temps are going to be warm all week too! Highs in the upper 70s - low/upper 80s! Summer is officially here in Minnesota! With all of the humidity too!

{What's Cooking?}::: It seems my hubby checks my blog to know what we are eating each week...so this section has become mainly for him :) ha ha Love you hubby! Here's what's on the Menu!
  • Monday - Chicken and Biscuits
  • Tuesday - Fajitas
  • Wednesday - BBQ Ribs and fresh green beans
  • Thursday - BLTs
  • Friday - Chicken and salads

{Weight Loss}::: Here's to being transparent and held accountable! I gained 48 pounds while pregnant with Christian...yes, that's 13 pounds more than the highest recommended for me having started at a healthy weight...oops! So far I have lost 30 pounds without any effort, so about 18 more to go! I made my first trip to the gym yesterday (with approval from my doctor) and am starting Weight Watchers for Nursing moms this week! I'll keep you posted :) They recommend losing about a pound a week so it could still be awhile before I'm fully back to my pre-pregnancy self, but slow and steady is good too!

{Things I Hope to Accomplish}:::
  1. Finish filling out the details of Christian's birth and labor story in my pregnancy journal...hopefully even write up his birth story to share on the blog too!
  2. 4 Week Baby Update on the blog...stay tuned!
  3. Clean the house
  4. Do the laundry
  5. Grocery Shopping and couponing

{Weekly Appointments}:::
  • Monday - Prepping food for snacks/etc for Weight Watchers
  • Tuesday - Get together with my 'New Mama Class'
  • Wednesday - Lunch with Daddy at work and then New Mama Class from 1-3pm
  • Thursday - Small Group night!
  • Friday - Grocery Shopping and laundry day...we will see if we can get that much accomplished in one day...
  • Saturday - Daddy works at church at night and maybe going to Apple Valley Freedom Days during the day
  • Sunday - Daddy works at church in the morning and then family time in the afternoon
Have a Great Week!!

Baby boy will be a month old on Saturday already! Check back for an update...our last 'weekly' update before starting monthly updates! :)

Christian James - 3 Weeks Old!

Time is flying Baby Boy! Next week you will be a month old already! Before we know it, we will be celebrating your first birthday!

In the past week you have gained about 9 ounces! Normal is to gain between 3.5-7 ounces...You're a growing boy!

Today you weighed in at 9 pounds 4 ounces!

Your newborn clothes are getting a little tight and your are starting to fill out your 0-3 month clothes much better.

You have also just about outgrown your newborn diapers and are starting to transition to size 1!

You are very alert baby boy! Napping isn't something you readily choose :) Mommy has started to swaddle you and put you in your swing and then you are out like a light! Otherwise, you spend the day yawning and barely nap!

You are still sleeping great! This past week you slept through the night! But on average, you usually sleep 5-6 hours and then another 4 hours.

When you play on your play mat, you are starting to kick and grab at all the dangling toys

You love being on your back on the floor where you can move, move move!

Daddy went back to work this week and now its just you and me at home
Daddy misses you lots but we have been lucky to visit him lots already too!

That 0-3 month onesie is fitting much better these days! You must be getting longer too!

Baxter still loves you brother :)

Although, he does seem more jealous of you now that daddy is back to work and he is getting less attention. Can't wait for you to be able to play together! You will both love it!

Kick, kick!

Not as much noticeable changes from last week to this week.

Here are some cute photos of you from the past week :)

Rockin' the mowhawk compliments of daddy!

You went for some baby pictures...and were sound asleep...until we started posing you. You aren't a very deep sleeper, but at least you sleep like a log at night!

Last Thursday Mommy left you for your first "guys night" with Daddy and Uncle Pat while I went to a photography class. And that's where I learned about taking great pictures! If you haven't seen the baby pics yet, you can find a sneak peak here. Mommy got to have her first glass of wine since you were born! And only drank about 3 sips before feeling too tipsy! ha ha

You also went on your first road trip! We went to mommy's hometown in Cornell and visited Grandma Jill, Grandpa Jeff, Great Grandma Greta, Grandpa Ron and Great Grandma Charlotte.

You also went to your first rodeo! Every year we take Grandpa Ron for Father's Day. You were such a hungry boy, though, and ate the entire time!

Check out the cool new blanket you got this week! It even has all your birth info. This will be a really special blanket for you :)

Baxter approves too :)

We celebrated our First Father's Day with Daddy on Sunday. Daddy had to work at church in the morning but we made him his favorite lunch, relaxed outside all day and then went to dinner. You loved sitting outside! Every time the wind blew through your hair, though, you would jump!

You also got your first "boo boo". When you were 1 week old you had a red spot on your finger tip. I thought maybe Baxter nibbled you so didn't think much of it, but decided to watch Bax closely. Then on Sunday we realized that the red dot had turned to looking like a blister and your finger was also red. Daddy did some research that said it could have gotten infected from trimming your nails and then you sucking on your fingers. It got a little better but today I called the doctor and we are getting it checked out tomorrow.

Mommy loves to snuggle with you after you finish eating :)

You have also been doing a lot of active sleeping. You move and groan a lot while you sleep, often holding your arms in the air. It's pretty funny and cute!

You also still love your play mat! But Mommy thinks it might be keeping you awake during the day when you need to be napping... oops!

Daddy went back to work this week, too. This is where we can find you most days come 4/5 o'clock :)
